Hello, welcome, come on in!

5E19C7DF-001E-440E-8282-91B5687703B2I’m Anna, a sun-worshipping, nap-taking, travel-loving freelance writer, blogger and music teacher. Phew.

Ever since University, my life has been a tasty smorgasbord. It’s taken me a while to find the correct term to define it: hodge-podge and mishmashed are too negative and their synonyms: disarray, shambles and bedlam, are just incorrect. I mean, bedlam?! So we’ll stick with tasty smorgasbord for now (the fact that it pertains to food is a major plus).

I’m sure most 20-somethings are familiar with the stomach-dropping realisation that eventually you will be out of education and you’ll have to fight your way into the adult world. You finish University, realise you’re not actually sure what you want to do as a career, frantically start up a few projects to avoid staring into the adult-world abyss, find a few part-time jobs to stay afloat, continue to search for that perfect career all while constantly rehearsing what you’ll say to the family in response to the inevitable ‘what are you up to now?’ question. Cue quarter-life crisis. Or so the story goes.

While some people may think that spinning multiple plates is unsustainable or a temporary fix, I am here to advocate that this assorted (read: fabulous) lifestyle is really quite rewarding. I personally love having multiple jobs that support my multiple interests: no part of me feels left out, I feel secure knowing I have more than one revenue stream and I enjoy the variety in my week that ultimately leads to the Japanese concept of Ikigai. So here I am: an editorial assistant at monthly national magazine, a private music teacher and a part-time PhD student. And it’s honestly great.

So with all that, welcome to my blog, which like my life is a mélange of interests. From travel and lifestyle, fitness and food, to academic discoveries and pop culture fanaticism, this is a space to consolidate my thoughts, experiences and passions. So have a look around, make yourselves at home and settle in for the ride.
